For my Mom’s testimonial on this wonderful herbal remedy containing Black Cohosh that  took away her hot flashes, click here

hot flash curesBlack Cohosh  is a herb native to North America and it has long been used to relieve "women’s problems".

It is a member of the buttercup family and is sometimes known as bugbane, squawroot, rattle root or black snakeroot. It grows up to 2.5 metres high and has tall stalks of fluffy white flowers. The gnarled black root is the part of the plant that’s used. It’s dried, ground to a powder and sold in capsule form.

It all seems too good to be true, but it’s been used for centuries and it’s one of the main ingredients in Lydia Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound, popular as a women’s tonic in the USA in the early 20th century, which is still available today.

If you have a medical condition, then speak to your doctor before using Black Cohosh or any supplements. Do not use Black Cohosh whilst pregnant or breastfeeding. Be aware it could interfere with hormonal medicines, particularly the contraceptive pill. If you’re taking medication for blood pressure, then, once again consult your doctor before using it, it can reduce blood pressure and it may cause yours to drop too low.

Having taken all that into account, if you’re looking for some help to see you through menopause symptoms without resorting to chemical HRT, then Black Cohosh is known as a natural cure for hot flashes, sweating and vaginal dryness. It works by reducing the hormone that is produced in the pituitary gland that is thought to be the cause of hot flashes.

Black Cohosh has an anti-spasmodic effect, which means it can help with menstrual cramps. It works by increasing the blood flow to the uterus and reducing the intensity of the contractions. Likewise it may help during labor and after childbirth.

Black Cohosh has anti-inflammatory effects and it can treat nerve related pain such as sciatica or neuralgia.

For menopausal or Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS) symptoms, take 40 mg twice a day. For PMS, begin treatment 7 to 10 days before you menstruate. For cramps, take 40 mg 3 or 4 times a day as needed. Consult your doctor regarding the time to take it for labor pains. It can be taken any time of the day, but it may cause stomach upsets, so it’s best to take it with food. Allow four to eight weeks to see a benefit for menopausal symptoms. It’s safe to take for long periods.

There are no known toxic effects. A very high dose can cause nausea, vomiting, reduced pulse rate and headaches. Stick to the recommended dosages. Find a supplement that contains 2.5% of triterpenes, which is the active ingredient.

Black Cohosh is also used as a compress for sore muscles and aching joints. Boil the root in water for 20 minutes, let it cool and apply to the affected area and cover with a clean cloth for about 20 minutes.

Black Cohosh is a marvel of nature. If you’re female, there’s some point in your life when it’s going to be of use.

hot flashes medicationMy Mom has tried  Menozac , and she is just absolutely thrilled that she finally found something that worked for her hot flashes and mood swings.  She even wrote me a testimonial, which you’ll find below.  But first… a little background.

I would say that I’m in perimenopause right now, but I haven’t had any of the major symptoms that women typically associate with menopause: hot flashes and mood swings… yet.  But my Mom sure has!

Because of Mom’s hysterectomy, hormone balance was upset, and she was prescribed Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Mom says, "I had a hysterectomy in 1984.  Since they took my ovaries, I was put on hormone replacement therapy and took estrogen for at least 10 years.  As a result I didn’t have any hot flashes, but my breasts filled up with lumps so I took myself off the pills.  After a period of time, all of the lumps went away but the hot flashes took over.  They have worsened in the past couple of years."hot flashes relief

Just ask my Dad.  Before they go to bed at night, Mom cranks up the air conditioning (they live in Phoenix) and gets the ceiling fan and bedside fan a spinning.  By the time they go to bed, it’s an icebox in there!  But all of this still didn’t prevent my Mom from waking up a few times a night drenched in sweat.  She hadn’t had a solid night’s sleep in years.  And she said that she was suffering from mood swings with a lot of anxiety and menopausal depression.

So when I was researching natural herbal remedies for menopausal symptoms for this site, I came across Menozac.  I told Mom about it, and she immediately ordered it.  I cautioned her that I don’t know if it works, but the testimonials on their website looked good.  I certainly didn’t want to steer Mom wrong!

Here is Mom’s testimony:

"You’ve got to try this stuff.  The past couple of years I have really suffered with day time hot flashes, night sweats and emotional ups and downs.  I’ve tried many different remedies and nothing worked until I ordered "Menozac".  I received my order within a week of placing it and started taking it right away.  What a difference!  It started working the next day, and I rarely experience a hot flash during the day and the night sweats are diminishing.  No more emotional highs and lows — rather a calm feeling.  I will definitely be ordering "Menozac" on a regular basis."

I am so thrilled that my research came across a hot flashes cure for Mom, and that it alleviated her menopausal depression.

herbal remedy hot flashesHot Flashes Treatments can come in the form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) which can be very risky to your health (such as increase cancer risks).  A safer hot flashes remedy can be found in a natural homeopathic pill or menopause gum.

Stopping Menopausal Hot Flashes

Studies show that over 50% of women going through menopause experience hot flashes - that means you are more likely to get them than you are to be hot-flash-free. These uncomfortable moments cause sweating, a rapidly beating heart, and flushing and make you physically uncomfortable, possibly even embarrassing you when you are in public situations. They also can occur at all times of day (and night). Fortunately, because so many women suffer from hot flashes, there are many remedies for the situation.

When you first talk to your doctor about the hot flashes you are experiencing, he or she will probably recommend a number of lifestyle changes that you can make to reduce this symptom of menopause, which can last up to a half hour. Living in a healthy way alone can cause the hot flashes to disappear, such as a healthy diet, stay cool, exercise often, relax, and quit smoking. There are also a number of herbal supplements you can take that have been shown to effectively reduce hot flashes in menopausal women. Some include black cohosh and red clover. Other popular dietary changes include eating wild yams, chasteberry, and licorice.

natural cures for hot flashes
The above-listed options are the best choices for women experiencing mild or infrequent hot flashes. Even without treatment, these hot flashes usually subside within a year’s time. However, if you are experiencing 8 or more hot flashes every day, or you find them to be unbearable, your best choice may be hormonal treatment.

The most effective way to stop hot flashes is estrogen therapy, but this form of treatment has risks as well. It is normally taken in conjunction with the hormone progesterone. Some of the main risks of estrogen include heart disease, stroke, blood clots, and breast cancer. Therefore, if you are already at risk for these conditions, you may want to reconsider your use of estrogen. Even if you were not previously at risk, it is important to use the lowest dose of estrogen possible, and to discontinue use as soon as the effects of menopause, including hot flashes, become bearable without treatment.

If estrogen and progesterone therapies are not medically sound options for you, there are other medications you may wish to pursue as well, although studies are still being done to find if they are safe and useful. One such option is taking antidepressants. In low doses, many menopausal women have used them to reduce hot flashes. However, they may have unwanted side effects as well. Gabapentin and clonidine, medications used to treat seizures and high blood pressure, respectively, are also being studied for their effectiveness in treating menopausal hot flashes.

Your doctor can give you more information on all the treatment options available if you find that you have begun suffering from hot flashes. This condition is common among women, and you do not need to continue suffering from the hot waves that flood your body during the day and the night sweats that disturb your sleep. Remember that this is one of the many changes you will see in your body during the menopause, and most will subside within a year.

Try a natural treatment for hot flashes…. there’s even a gum you can chew to alleviate your hot flashes!
